We start with the best New Zealand Merino wool to make a range of insulative yet breathable midlayers that outdoor enthusiasts swear by. This exclusive knit is square and dense, creating a rugged yet soft fabric with inherent stretch and long-wearing durability. Our Shak fabric is best used as a midlayer but is soft enough to wear as an expedition-weight baselayer and substantial enough to be used as an outerlayer in some conditions. No matter how you wear it, the performance is unbeatable. Machine washable. 100% Merino Wool

I rotate wearing my Shak vests almost every day as an essential layer in late fall and winter. They are wonderfully warm, but also ventable with the zipper. The colors are beautiful and go well with lots of other colors for under layers. The zipper on a vest I purchased this year was very difficult to start so I sent that vest back. The replacement vest's zipper was much better, but still not as
This vest is one of my favorite garments. It goes from distance bike rides to hiking to dinner. Equally perfect with athletic bottoms to dress pants to skirts. The fit is super flattering and the fit is spot on. In an effort to simplify my wardrobe and my life, the shak vest is an essential.
Got my vest last week and its great. I am in the process of buying more with this present sale. It is form fitting (but not too much), so go up a size if you like things a slightly baggy or if you are large breasted (me, not.) I use it working with horses and its just great. In the CA winter it is the middle layer between a polo shirt and an outer jacket or anorak. And I confidently take the jacke
I bought this to wear skiing and soon found that this is one of the most useful pieces of clothing I have ever bought. I wore it almost every day for 10 days this winter in Paris. Layered under a city jacket, it was great and kept me warm without binding. The only problem I had was my daughter-in-law kept borrowing it from me! Around the house it is that "just right" piece to warm you up without s
This vest was given as a Christmas gift in Vino-rojo. The color is beautiful, and since it came out of the box it has been worn at least four days every week. A perfect layer for cross country, the office, or sitting around the house--one of the nicest and most versatile vests I've seen.
The vest I bought my wife for her birthday was sized too small so we had to exchange it for a larger version. A significant drawback is that it only has one side pocket. Otherwise it is very well made and attractive and is an ideal alternative to the common fleece.
This is overall a nice lightweight 100% merino vest. I agree with other reviewers that the pocket design is unfortunate (a single zip pocket too small to comfortably fit your hand or a larger wallet), and also that the length is a bit too short. But, for my intended usage, it's fine so I will probably keep it. It's too lightweight as an outer layer in winter (even here in the Bay Area), but is
I bought this for extra warmth in the northen CA winters. It is light weight but provides a really good layer of insulation for the core. I ususally wear a small (5'3, size 4-6) but the medium in this fits me well and can wear non bulky sweater underneath. It has a nice sleek look. My only complaint, (reason for only 4 stars) is that it has one pocket only and it is on the left side! How cr
my thin cotton long sleeve t's need this vest to venture out in the cold. add a scarf and black wool pants and i have a multitude of outfits. i do wish the vest were a bit longer in the body - i am only 5' 9", wear a medium, and would prefer more torso coverage, to be a perfect vest. but the fit and lay of the fabric is very well rendered. i have purchased 3 in different colors and could use
Beautiful material, super comfortable. Only problem for me was the neck was too tight when zipped up all the way and I didn't like the way the open collar laid on the front of the vest when open. (Carrie vest was perfect in these regards.)
I bought this to wear around the office (to keep me warm until it's time to put on a sport coat and leave the comfort of my desk) but it was thinner than I had hoped. It's definitely more of a technical piece, and for that, it's great - well-made, close fitting, good length so your waist isn't cold. I can see purchasing one for x-country skiing or show shoeing. For my more modest and leisurely pur
I did not like the way this vest fit me... I ordered the Carrie Vest and that was perfect.. its really just a choice thing. I felt that this vest was just too tight. I always wear an xs at 5ft and 100lbs it pulled very tight across my chest.
Practical and stylish. Fit is perfect. I'm between a small and medium (5'6", 125 give or take) and the medium fit perfectly-not snug. The neck is a bit tight to zip up fully though, especially with a T-neck underneath, but can be done if necessary.
I was surprised to see that this vest only has one pocket. I use my pockets for my hands so this was a negative. The cut was great, the color a very bright green but the cloth was very thin- especially for a vest. I sent it back.
This vest is much lighter weight than the Ibex vest I already own--the other style apparently isn't available any longer, and the fabric is boucle and not double-knit like the Shak. The color of my old vest is a lovely rich red, and the "shiraz" of the new one is really more like mauve--a washed-out dark pink. I'm not returning it but am not as pleased with Shak as with the old vest (which I love
Since I wear my Shak full-zip constantly, I thought the vest would be a very useful layer. I am very disappointed in the fit. Ibex Large is usually just right for me, but the vest is short, a bit snug, and unremarkable. The black XL is not available, but I'm not sure that would be the right fit, either. Sadly, I will have to return the vest.
I have a closet full of Ibex clothing, but this one's getting returned. Ibex size smalls normally fit me well- even another Ibex vest I own is a small - but the Shak doesn't fit. It's the right size for my torso and chest, but is very short and the armholes are uncomfortably small. Disappointed. Returned.
