The Indie is the laid back sibling in our baselayer family. A slightly heavier layer with a more casual fit, the Indie line features 18.5 micron merino at 195 grams / m2. The result is a turtleneck jersey that can be worn solo or in layers.

All About The Wool
Wool Type +
Finely tuned 18.5 micron New Zealand Merino at 195g/m2. We designed this fabric from the need of a weight in-between our Woolies 1 at 150g/m2 and our Woolies 2 at 230g/m2. The weight of the fabric resembles that of a high quality t-shirt. It works well worn next to skin as a baselayer or on it's own.
Benefits of Wool
Wool garments offer substantially more protection from UV exposure than traditional summer fabrics, like cotton.
Wool draws moisture away from the skin and evaporates moisture, regulating body temperature in all conditions.
Ibex wool products naturally include antimicrobial properties, keeping your garment odor-free.
Wool fights off weather and dirt and prevents stains, making Ibex easy to wash and easy to keep clean.
Because Ibex is made from very small micron diameter fibers, our garments are extremely soft and comfortable.
The craftspeople who are involved in every step of the process–from the sheep, to the spinners, to the sewers–are carefully hand-selected.
Because we use wool–a natural and renewable fiber– Ibex is good for you and good for the Earth.
Ibex wool garments resist heat. They don’t hold a flame and won’t melt like synthetic fabrics and fibers.
We recommend a general body measurement guide to determine your size in Ibex clothing. This sizing chart is not garment specific, but in fact a body measurement chart. Here are some helpful hints when measuring:
Bust/Chest: relax arms at sides, keeping the tape parallel to the floor, measure the fullest part of your bust/chest
Waist: keeping the measuring tape comfortably loose, measure around your natural waistline
Hips: standing with heels together, keep the tape straight and parallel to the floor, measure around the fullest part of hips
Sleeve Length: a 3-point measurement, standing with arms relaxed and slightly bent at sides, measure from the base of the neck to the shoulder and then from the shoulder to the wrist bone, add together measurements
Form-fit: garment designed to fit snug to the body throughout
Semi-fit: garment will be contoured to the body
Regular-fit: garment will not be slim, but also not oversized
Relaxed-fit: garment drapes loosely on body

Used this by itself for an hour trail run in 35-40 degree, clear weather. Wasn't hot and I wasn't cold - perfect. I'm an athetic build, but large (6'2" @ 245lbs) and sweat a lot. Wool works perfect - regulates temp and breathes. Awesome work on this one. Just bought a second one. XL was a perfect, athletic fit.
Great turtleneck, neck is more comfortable without a zipper. Neck is single layer but high enough for warmth. Soft and warm as a base in cold weather, but is good looking for outer wear uses also. I have ordered a second one in a different color.
I recently bought this piece and have been using it for running. Temps here (April in Minnesota) have been ranging between 30 and 55. The shirt works perfect for this range, and I imagine will work great layered for running in chilly January temps. It's comfortable, high-quality, breathes great, and doesn't get clammy or overly hot.
Light weight but warm, quality design and assembly. Perfect shirt for winters around here. I save this for colder days because I'm not a major t-neck fan, but this shirt doesn't itch and comes up to a comfortable level. I could wear this every day.
Surprised to see a high-end fabric with sleeves that are actually long enough for my arms - and these actually easily go to wrist break. Fabulous for an unexpected chilly summer night or for layering under a vest at work.
I think I read a review that mentioned something about 'the key to staying comfortable in winter, is keeping your neck warm'. I whole-heartedly agree! And though I own other Indie and Echo shirts, this is the one I consider the first defense against the cold. Its all about the turtle neck. If I'm not wearing an Ibex with a high collar (and its winter)...I'm wearing an Ibex neck gaiter!
I now own two of these turtles and I'm tempted by a third. They are very comfortable and they look great even after washing. The lightweight fabric works well layered under a sweater or under a sport coat. They are easy to pack for travel or to carry in a pannier to work (like I do).
Used as a base layer beneath an Ibex Zip-T, this Indie Turtle was comfortable beyond measure. I wore it during the day when temps were as high as 70 F. And I wore it sleeping in my slightly inadequate sleeping bag with temps dropping to near freezing. Wore it under rain gear and alone in sun. 8 days and NO STINK. Ibex . . . I love you people.
Used as a base layer on a chilly spring morning trail ride. The Indie kept me very warm and very dry. Also nice enough to wear as casual wear. I plan to get a few more colors. Thanks Ibex for another new favorite!
I bought this for my husband who is not always happy with my choices. He is 6'2" and thin. The medium was a good fit - even the sleeves! I know it's a winner because he put it on to try it and started wearing it right away. He layers it under shirts and wears it to do outside work and in the garage - although it's also light enough to continue to wear indoors.
As usual, Ibex has another great product. Few days go by that I don't have at least one (or more) Ibex products on my person. This shirt has a wonderful feel and drape to it and fits very nicely. I bought two colors and feel like they will be my go to shirts for cool weather. I did not notice in the initial description that the shirts were mock turtlenecks instead of full T necks. Also, I would
Whats not to love! The feel of this shirt is wonderfully soft. The fit is just right. Arm length, and chest sizing for my 5'11" frame is remarkable. The range of temperatures this can be worn in is the best aspect, cold morning runs to hanging out at the Pint. Keep up the great work and dont loose your focus.
I ordered this for my boyfriend for his birthday. It looks very nice on--the color-contrast pieces on the sides are low-key, but add a lot of interest, and somehow gives it a look of quality. The fabric was a bit thinner than I expected--probably better as a layering piece than worn as a shirt...although maybe not everyone would feel that way. (It's thin, but not ridiculously thin.)
