All About The Wool
Wool Type +
The name says it all: Rambler is meant to move. The woven wool pulls its inspiration from traditional work shirts and timeless plaids. This 100 percent Wool fabric is sturdy enough for years of wear, and light enough for packing along on your next adventure.
Benefits of Wool
Wool garments offer substantially more protection from UV exposure than traditional summer fabrics, like cotton.
Wool draws moisture away from the skin and evaporates moisture, regulating body temperature in all conditions.
Ibex wool products naturally include antimicrobial properties, keeping your garment odor-free.
Wool fights off weather and dirt and prevents stains, making Ibex easy to wash and easy to keep clean.
Because Ibex is made from very small micron diameter fibers, our garments are extremely soft and comfortable.
The craftspeople who are involved in every step of the process–from the sheep, to the spinners, to the sewers–are carefully hand-selected.
Because we use wool–a natural and renewable fiber– Ibex is good for you and good for the Earth.
Ibex wool garments resist heat. They don’t hold a flame and won’t melt like synthetic fabrics and fibers.
We recommend a general body measurement guide to determine your size in Ibex clothing. This sizing chart is not garment specific, but in fact a body measurement chart. Here are some helpful hints when measuring:
Bust/Chest: relax arms at sides, keeping the tape parallel to the floor, measure the fullest part of your bust/chest
Waist: keeping the measuring tape comfortably loose, measure around your natural waistline
Hips: standing with heels together, keep the tape straight and parallel to the floor, measure around the fullest part of hips
Sleeve Length: a 3-point measurement, standing with arms relaxed and slightly bent at sides, measure from the base of the neck to the shoulder and then from the shoulder to the wrist bone, add together measurements
Form-fit: garment designed to fit snug to the body throughout
Semi-fit: garment will be contoured to the body
Regular-fit: garment will not be slim, but also not oversized
Relaxed-fit: garment drapes loosely on body

I found that the stronger weave of this wool makes it a little tougher next to the skin, so I wear a wool base layer underneath( That's also because the pocket on the left breast chafes my chest, but that will vary depending on your body structure). Even with the double layer of this wool it has breathed fine in summer weather outside.
Different/better than most knit shirts but let it relax a bit to not be so scratchy
This is a REALLY good shirt for several reasons: 1) it holds its shape better than the other polo styles. This makes it better for work or play if you are, like me, looking for something that's somewhat dressier than polo shirts, and yet works well in hot weather. I know, it's odd, but wool in hot weather really works! 2) At first, out of the box, it's a little itchy-scratchy. Be patient. Wash it a couple of times (even if just in the shower). At first, you can tumble it dry on NO HEAT. After about 3 washes, it's tolerable to good, depending on your itch factor. That seems to de-claw it mostly. 3) The cut and styling of it is really good. Nice plaids too (finally something not solid!) It wears nicely and doesn't just hang. The semi-hidden chest pocket is well made as are all of the other carefully crafted panels. The short sleeves are just right: not too long, not too short. The collar stays in place without needing buttons to keep it in place and works well with sunglass holder cords (unlike most polo shirts). The shirt will undoubtedly wear well with time as it has a harder finish and feel to it than the OD T's and other Merino wool shirts. Good shirt with shirt tails in or out! Oh, yes, and this IS a shirt that you can wear day after day with no stink factor (if needed). It's still a good idea to wash it tho'...Nice job, Ibex!
Love it! I have only worn it twice so far but definitely going to be one of my favorite shirts. Hangs nice with a pair of slacks or jeans. Slightly itchy next to skin and I'll be interested to see how it performs in warmer summer months.
