Finely tuned 18.5 micron New Zealand Merino at 195g/m2. We designed this fabric from the need of a weight in-between our Woolies at 150g/m2 and our Zepher at 230g/m2. The weight of the fabric resembles that of a high quality t-shirt. It works well worn next to skin as a baselayer or on it\u0027s own.

How Do I Determine My Size?

We recommend a general body measurement guide to determine your size in Ibex clothing. This sizing chart is not garment specific, but in fact a body measurement chart. Here are some helpful hints when measuring:

Bust/Chest: relax arms at sides, keeping the tape parallel to the floor, measure the fullest part of your bust/chest
Waist: keeping the measuring tape comfortably loose, measure around your natural waistline
Hips: standing with heels together, keep the tape straight and parallel to the floor, measure around the fullest part of hips
Sleeve Length: a 3-point measurement, standing with arms relaxed and slightly bent at sides, measure from the base of the neck to the shoulder and then from the shoulder to the wrist bone, add together measurements
Form-fit: garment designed to fit snug to the body throughout
Semi-fit: garment will be contoured to the body
Regular-fit: garment will not be slim, but also not oversized
Relaxed-fit: garment drapes loosely on body

No hood? No good: for outdoor wear, I always buy hoods so that I don't have to worry about keeping track of a neck gaitor/hat (which explains where my Muni Cap is).

I never tried a design like this. I already like the fabric weight and I thought on miserable days, the hood would be nice to
put up under my hard hat.

My friend let me use his and I loved it as a base layer hiking around the mountains of Montana in the winter. Great hood, thumb-loops and 3/4 zipper. Recommend adding arm-pit zipper vents to the next version!

Need to replace my mid-weight Patagonia Axuwool hoody, and my awesome Ibex Nomad Hoody (which, sadly, is no longer made). Will use this Indie to run and ski, and backpack throughout the Northeast.

The Woolies 1 base layer is my go to piece when building my clothing system for winter racing and touring. The Indie hooded piece adds the comfort and technical advantages of the Woolies layer with a hood, zip and thumb holes... Perfect!!

Lightweight hood just right for cutting the breezes and preventing sunburn for summer glacier travel or XC skiing, and trim enough to fit under a softshell.

Wanted a lightweight, super breathable first layer to pair with a soft shell while ski touring. Pairs perfectly with a medium-weight second layer on colder days. Fitted hood is handy for windy, stormy days. Ill buy more of these.
Steven G on Sep 9, 2015
I prefer the sun protection of long sleeves and a hood and the odor resistence of wool makes this a fantastic option to the more common synthetics.

Is this hood good under a helmet?
Evan K on Apr 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This hood is awesome under a helmet. It breathes perfectly and keeps the chill off the neck area. I've used it when it's 20 degrees or colder and have been very comfortable and happy. I own 4 of these gems and it is my only base layer for downhill skiing in Anchorage, Alaska.
How does this fabric hold up for rock climbing?
Kelly P Staff on Sep 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It's definitely a thinner piece; I climb in layers this weight often, and they do get holes. However, it won't completely fall apart on you--it will just lose it's clean aesthetics (and gain some street...er, crag...cred). If you want a piece that will take more of a beating, anything with the Shak material will hold up better (albeit it'll be warmer).
Does it provide UV Sun Protection?
A shopper on Apr 20, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I purchased my Md Hooded Indie this winter and love it as a base layer and mid layer. It kept me warm and cozy on a winter hiking weekend in the White Mountains. Durning a recent trip to Utah, it did provide some sun protection while hiking, no sun burn on my arms or trunk after a 6 hr hike at higher elevations.

Still a good product, but...
The fit is the same as my 2010 Indie Hoodie by the size has decreased to a closer-cut, almost Athletic size. It is beginning to relax a bit so I'm sure that the fit will improve. The fabric has a whole different feel than my older Indie. The older has a really soft hand, more of a cotton jersey; I can read my laptop screen through this new one. It is warm as a base, but not on its own.
2010 Indie (size Large) weighs in at 268 grams, new Indie (size Large also) at 232 Grams and is 4 inches shorter. Overall: I like the color and the fit should relax a bit more, but long term thought is I'll try a different brand when I order a replacement.

Comfy, warm, be a sheep for a day!
No stink (as of yet), compared to my 6 year old synthetic underwear. Much warmer, and has all the features requisite for a layer your life could depend on in an alpine assault: thumb loops, hood, 1/4 length front zipper for ventilation, and it's low enough to tuck into long-johns. Also, the wool is very soft.

A solid piece that is helping me grin through the Montana winter.
November 26, 2010
Comfortable and will dry very fast as advertised. Significant pilling after I wore it once with a backpack. Also runs smaller than the other products I've purchased from Ibex. I'd use it as a base layer in colder months. Not the warmest hoodie.

My favorite shirt
I love traveling in this shirt. Regulates body temperature from town, to airplane, to destination.

Just in Time for Sub-Zero
The hoody that could best describes this great Ibex item. When Alaska gets sub-zero and snow is good, it's time to layer-up and XC ski. Great for cold outdoor workouts and backcountry outings. It can soak up the sweat when grinding but when combined with a synthetic T seems to dry out quick and won't flash burn like nylon around a campfire. Sure is nice to pull up the hood to keep heat loss fr

Excellent layer
I love hoodies and to have a lightweight wool layer with a hoodie is a dream come true. I spend everyday outdoors and I have used this daily from the day I received it. Everything from Mountain biking to hiking. The best use will be backcountry skiing to the huts and teaching avalanche classes this winter.

The fit is looser which is perfect. I could wear another layer underneath if I wanted o

Perfect Piece
I got the previous year's hooded indie in brown and I really love it. The thumbholes function perfectly and show no signs of wearing out. I wear this constantly for two weeks or so and I wash it. I actually machine wash this baby warm and tumble dry HOT and it has not shrank a bit, so take a deep breath and toss it in the dryer.

I'm 6'1" 165lbs (read lanky/longish torso and arms) and the Large fi

Great piece of clothing. One thing that would make it better would be a chest pocket.

Repeat customer
I wore my last one out and I think it's the ultimate compliment when you wear something out and buy another of the same thing. As a light baselayer it really can't get much better. I like the long torso length (always stays tucked in), sleeve length in combination with the thumb loops means that a good chunk of your hand is covered even when you're pulling gloves on, and the hood provides coverage

Lightweight but warm and comfortable hoodie. I have worn the hoodie hiking in cool weather ,50's- 60's, and also as an around the house piece. I'm 5'10" and 165 lbs.and bought extra large. Once washed and dried, it fits as I like, a little loose but not baggy.
