Finely tuned 18.5 micron New Zealand Merino at 195g/m2. We designed this fabric from the need of a weight in-between our Woolies at 150g/m2 and our Zepher at 230g/m2. The weight of the fabric resembles that of a high quality t-shirt. It works well worn next to skin as a baselayer or on it\u0027s own.

How Do I Determine My Size?

We recommend a general body measurement guide to determine your size in Ibex clothing. This sizing chart is not garment specific, but in fact a body measurement chart. Here are some helpful hints when measuring:

Bust/Chest: relax arms at sides, keeping the tape parallel to the floor, measure the fullest part of your bust/chest
Waist: keeping the measuring tape comfortably loose, measure around your natural waistline
Hips: standing with heels together, keep the tape straight and parallel to the floor, measure around the fullest part of hips
Sleeve Length: a 3-point measurement, standing with arms relaxed and slightly bent at sides, measure from the base of the neck to the shoulder and then from the shoulder to the wrist bone, add together measurements
Form-fit: garment designed to fit snug to the body throughout
Semi-fit: garment will be contoured to the body
Regular-fit: garment will not be slim, but also not oversized
Relaxed-fit: garment drapes loosely on body

Still need help determining your size? Call 800.773.9647 or email us at info@ibex.com for specific garment measurements.

Thumb loops, versatile hood, and midweight wool. Perfect for Nordic outings.
Richard H on Feb 3, 2016
best baselayer for biking and skiing ever! on long back country ski climbs you go from hot and sweaty to colder windier temps towards the summit. A simple flip of the hood helps keep the cold from your neck without the bulk and non-flexible hassle of putting on the shell hood. Love the hood for the descent as it is soft, flexible (you can turn your head and still see) and yet keeps snow out of your neck during those spectacular yard sale crashes.

I was looking for a baselayer for winter use with an integrated hood to maximize warmth and thumbholes to keep the upper hands covered. The partial zipper was also desirable for rapid venting in the event of high exertion.

I love all of my Ibex merino gear and I've been wanting a Merino hoodie. Thumb loops and a hood will make this a great piece for running, snowshoeing, xc-ski, and fatbiking.

I purchased these with the intent on using them for winter (in Phoenix, AZ) running, hiking, and as a base layer when I go to Yellowstone this Spring with my sons. I have other ibex base layers and LOVE them. This particular product will be new for me.

Ibex is the best. Our family lives Ibex. This is for my husband who works outside year round (VT) likes the hooded neck on this shirt as it keeps him warm. Ibex offers quality and comfort.
Thanks.

Portland has a lot of cool days, so I'm always looking for versatile clothing that can work in many environments.
Keith S on Jan 16, 2016
The Indie is the best outdoor garment I own. It's infinitely adjustable for changing temperatures. I use these cycling in the NW where weather can change in an instant. Getting hot? Pull up the sleeves. Sun went down and you're miles from home? Put up the hood. Two of these layered will keep you comfortable into the 30's. One of these will keep you sweat free but warm into the 60's. I will not tell you how many Indies I have in my closet... Wool Rocks! Ibex wears.
Dale C on Jan 16, 2016
Because the women's does NOT fit. Way to short in all aspects. Thought I'd give this a try.
Catherine J on Jan 15, 2016
I love the weight of this piece, it's perfect for layering in colder seasons and on its own for cool summer evenings. The raglan sleeves work for my wide shoulders too. I bought the men's because I really like the pewter heather color which isn't offered in women's. I wear a L in women's and got a M in men's.
Julie Z on Jan 15, 2016
I have one in blue already. Very versatile. It has become my go to weekend wear as its been a cold damp winter in Oregon.

My cousin from Alaska purchased one of these as a baselayer and lives in it for all pursuits, e.g., fly fishing, backcountry skiing, and cabin life.
Alexei S on Jan 5, 2016
I have 2 of these and use them to run and bike. These are the best pieces of workout gear I own! (And I have a ton of gear!) I use them when it gets into the 50's as an only layer and as the temps drop I add additional layers. The snug hood does a great job keeping in body heat. Fabric is delicate so I try to wash these by hand. I am buying this one for a friend.
Eli B on Jan 5, 2016
We love hoods and wool!
Catherine L on Dec 28, 2015
We cycle year round, and I hate the winter cold. This base layer does triple duty for me as I'm a;so a climber, and a helmet friendly and ready hood is a must have.
Steve K on Dec 27, 2015
Great base layer for winter and shoulder season outdoor trips, especially winter snow camping/skiing/snow shoeing. You don't need to always carry a hat because the hood is always right there. The fit of the 2015 model is a bit more slimmer that my older 2012 model. Also the wool feels softer. Because it is wool, you can wear it longer than a synthetic base layer because of wool's ability to mitigate body odor. Works great under a light fleece and wind shirt!
Bruce T on Dec 18, 2015
Purchased the exact same item for my husband for last Christmas and he wore it all winter long running.
Janice F on Dec 16, 2015

Does it provide UV Sun Protection?
A shopper on Apr 20, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I purchased my Md Hooded Indie this winter and love it as a base layer and mid layer. It kept me warm and cozy on a winter hiking weekend in the White Mountains. Durning a recent trip to Utah, it did provide some sun protection while hiking, no sun burn on my arms or trunk after a 6 hr hike at higher elevations.
Is this hood good under a helmet?
Evan K on Apr 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This hood is awesome under a helmet. It breathes perfectly and keeps the chill off the neck area. I've used it when it's 20 degrees or colder and have been very comfortable and happy. I own 4 of these gems and it is my only base layer for downhill skiing in Anchorage, Alaska.
How does this fabric hold up for rock climbing?
Kelly P Staff on Sep 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It's definitely a thinner piece; I climb in layers this weight often, and they do get holes. However, it won't completely fall apart on you--it will just lose it's clean aesthetics (and gain some street...er, crag...cred). If you want a piece that will take more of a beating, anything with the Shak material will hold up better (albeit it'll be warmer).
is this a graphite grey or light grey in color?
A shopper on Jan 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It's more on the graphite gray side.

Still a good product, but...
The fit is the same as my 2010 Indie Hoodie by the size has decreased to a closer-cut, almost Athletic size. It is beginning to relax a bit so I'm sure that the fit will improve. The fabric has a whole different feel than my older Indie. The older has a really soft hand, more of a cotton jersey; I can read my laptop screen through this new one. It is warm as a base, but not on its own.
2010 Indie (size Large) weighs in at 268 grams, new Indie (size Large also) at 232 Grams and is 4 inches shorter. Overall: I like the color and the fit should relax a bit more, but long term thought is I'll try a different brand when I order a replacement.

Great
Great piece of clothing. One thing that would make it better would be a chest pocket.

Comfy, warm, be a sheep for a day!
No stink (as of yet), compared to my 6 year old synthetic underwear. Much warmer, and has all the features requisite for a layer your life could depend on in an alpine assault: thumb loops, hood, 1/4 length front zipper for ventilation, and it's low enough to tuck into long-johns. Also, the wool is very soft.

A solid piece that is helping me grin through the Montana winter.

Pilling
Comfortable and will dry very fast as advertised. Significant pilling after I wore it once with a backpack. Also runs smaller than the other products I've purchased from Ibex. I'd use it as a base layer in colder months. Not the warmest hoodie.

Might want to order up a size...
The fabric feels great overall quality appears very good but...I will defer to previous reviews:

Dope
This hoodie is a perfect baselayer. It's super warm and comfortable, and slim enough to fit under just about anything. I'm 5'11" and 175lbs, the medium fits me very well. I have broad shoulders, so when I put the good up, it stretched the fabric around my neck and shoulders upward. It should break in fairly well.

Just in Time for Sub-Zero
The hoody that could best describes this great Ibex item. When Alaska gets sub-zero and snow is good, it's time to layer-up and XC ski. Great for cold outdoor workouts and backcountry outings. It can soak up the sweat when grinding but when combined with a synthetic T seems to dry out quick and won't flash burn like nylon around a campfire. Sure is nice to pull up the hood to keep heat loss fr

Excellent layer
I love hoodies and to have a lightweight wool layer with a hoodie is a dream come true. I spend everyday outdoors and I have used this daily from the day I received it. Everything from Mountain biking to hiking. The best use will be backcountry skiing to the huts and teaching avalanche classes this winter.

The fit is looser which is perfect. I could wear another layer underneath if I wanted o

Perfect Piece
I got the previous year's hooded indie in brown and I really love it. The thumbholes function perfectly and show no signs of wearing out. I wear this constantly for two weeks or so and I wash it. I actually machine wash this baby warm and tumble dry HOT and it has not shrank a bit, so take a deep breath and toss it in the dryer.

I'm 6'1" 165lbs (read lanky/longish torso and arms) and the Large fi
