All About The Wool
Wool Type +
Finely tuned 18.5 micron New Zealand Merino at 195g/m2. We designed this fabric from the need of a weight in-between our Woolies 1 at 150g/m2 and our Woolies 2 at 230g/m2. The weight of the fabric resembles that of a high quality t-shirt. It works well worn next to skin as a baselayer or on it's own.
Benefits of Wool
Wool garments offer substantially more protection from UV exposure than traditional summer fabrics, like cotton.
Wool draws moisture away from the skin and evaporates moisture, regulating body temperature in all conditions.
Ibex wool products naturally include antimicrobial properties, keeping your garment odor-free.
Wool fights off weather and dirt and prevents stains, making Ibex easy to wash and easy to keep clean.
Because Ibex is made from very small micron diameter fibers, our garments are extremely soft and comfortable.
The craftspeople who are involved in every step of the process–from the sheep, to the spinners, to the sewers–are carefully hand-selected.
Because we use wool–a natural and renewable fiber– Ibex is good for you and good for the Earth.
Ibex wool garments resist heat. They don’t hold a flame and won’t melt like synthetic fabrics and fibers.
We recommend a general body measurement guide to determine your size in Ibex clothing. This sizing chart is not garment specific, but in fact a body measurement chart. Here are some helpful hints when measuring:
Bust/Chest: relax arms at sides, keeping the tape parallel to the floor, measure the fullest part of your bust/chest
Waist: keeping the measuring tape comfortably loose, measure around your natural waistline
Hips: standing with heels together, keep the tape straight and parallel to the floor, measure around the fullest part of hips
Sleeve Length: a 3-point measurement, standing with arms relaxed and slightly bent at sides, measure from the base of the neck to the shoulder and then from the shoulder to the wrist bone, add together measurements
Form-fit: garment designed to fit snug to the body throughout
Semi-fit: garment will be contoured to the body
Regular-fit: garment will not be slim, but also not oversized
Relaxed-fit: garment drapes loosely on body

This is my third Indie piece, my other 2 are the hooded Indie. This thing is great, you can tell the fabric quality is really high. It feels great against your skin, I have never had an itch while wearing them.
I got the Deep copper with gray stripe, which is like an orangey-brown and I really like the color. I also like the fact that the inside of the collar is blackish, it gives it some really
I like to wear it under a shirt or sweater when layering. Its light and comfortable, only slightly scratchy (may want to wear a short sleave T under it). Colors are pleasant; haven't had it long enough to judge long term durability.
I bought this wonderful item for a wonderful friend. A Christmas gift for him turned out to be a Christmas gift for me. He's so happy wearing it since it's lightweight yet warm. And -- bonus -- it's so soft to the touch each time I go to grab his arm. A win-win for a pair of cold cats in the midwest.
A note on sizing: I notice that many Ibex reviewers complain about sizing, particularly sleeves that are too long. Those same reviewers often give their own sizing info and size choices, and some of them obviously buy garments that are larger than recommended on the Ibex chart. In my experience, the Ibex chart is accurate if you want your top
I have to wear a uniform for work, so I don't get to wear this piece as much as I would like to. I basically am excited at every chance to put it on, it is so comfortable. The contrast on the inside of the collar is a really good touch.
I want to see Ibex make a "Rugby" style shirt, like this, but with buttons instead of the 1/4 zip, how awesome would that be? Kinda rugged, kinda preppy, but real
I have owned several short and long sleeve Ibex tops in the last two years. So far, this is my favorite. The zipper comes in handy for heat regulation with winter activities. I really like the cut and feel of the top. It is slightly form fitting/athletic cut, but by no means tight with plenty of room for arm movement.
I received this top as a gift, and at first was a little skeptical of the ar
I use my Indie Zip T as an outer layer, combined with either a short or long sleeve wool undergarment depending on the weather. I like the casual good looks and looser fit, and have found it to be very versatile. I'm planning to buy another one in a different color, and I would definitely recommend this product.
I find the Indie Zip T extremely comfortable and just a bit heavier (and warmer) than the Woolies underlayer. I do wish more of Ibex long sleeve shirts would have ribbed/elastic sleeves so I didn't have to roll them up. I just don't care for the Generic hem of the sleeve. I had to stitch the sleeve smaller on the inside so it doesn't have to be rolled up. I like looser fitting shirts and gener
Love this shirt. Bought a L zip neck and a M crew neck. I'm 6'1" 175 with longish arms. The M crew is a good "next-to-skin" fit. Sleeves just the right length and snug (but not tight) across the chest. Perfect to wear under a shirt, vest, jacket for any outdoor activity (I also wear it to the climbing gym when it's cool). The L zip neck is slightly roomier - wear it to work over a T. Looks
I have six of these. There is a depth (richness?) to the colors of all Ibex tops that I like alot. I even dig the Starfleet Academy Striping. Get some cedar, buy Ibex, be cozy, classically understated and ENJOY.
I have used this shirt as a single layer for cool running (30-50 F) and it works great. Breathable, but still warm. Sleeves are long but fit great--I can tuck my hands in if needed. As a benefit it doesn't hold odor like synthetic fabrics.
I started my Coast to Coast across England walk in September wearing the polyester hiking shirts i have had for years. When it was time for a clean shirt, I tried the Indie. No more polyester! The Indie was incredibly comfortable despite any and all changes in the weather, going from worn alone to being covered with a thin windshell or a regular rain parka. Wool forever!
We came off the pass a little early and I was waiting for my ride in front of the bagel shop. I ducked into Wilson Backcountry Sports to pass the time. The Indie Zip T was the first thing I saw when I walked in. I tried it on and the fit was spot on. The weight of the fabric is perfect for me. I wore it the next day as a base layer. It works as an ideal layer for the skin track. The weave allows e
I bought this shirt(along with a Scout FZ and an Indie crew)to be used as a baselayer and outerwear for a recent outdoor adventure to the cool highlands of central Mexico. The shirt is great for trail and town adventures. Wear is alone when the temp is above 60 and pair it with the Scout FZ if the temp dips to the low 40s and you will be comfortable. I plan on buying more. It is great to find an
In the California/Nevada Sierra where I live this shirt can get a little too warm if you're exerting yourself much, unless it's the coldest time of the year. I prefer it for down time, after a workout and shower, or when you have to stand outside on a cold day or cool evening timing a race or drinking a beer. It can also feel too warm for commercial air travel if you end up in an overheated airlin
I have two Indie LS crews, & have posted a review under that product. I ordered a zip-T about a month ago, & love it too! It's a little warmer because of the T-neck, yet the zipper allows ventilation when I need it. So far I've worn it only casually, but look forward to spring camping, fishing, & sailing wearing these shirts. Like all the Ibex products I own, these shirts are thoughtfully designed
I use this as either a stand alone top in mild to cool conditions or as a base layer in cold temps. What is strange is that I have 2 of the same zip, both medium Indies and the sleeve length is very different on them, one fits great and the other one has sleeves that come almost to the end of my fingers???
I bought this use for travel. It has a great look that can be dressed up by placing a thin turtle neck beneath it (and for added warmth). However, it was too small when it arrived so I gave it to my partner who thought it was great. The piece runs much smaller than some of the other XL IBEX items I have purchased. It's more like a "roomy Large" than an XL. I'm hoping Ibex makes an XXL in this b
I was touring medieval castles in Germany which could get cool and there were periodic showers. The Idie Zip T was great paired with my gortex rain jacket. When the sun did decide to shine I could roll the sleeves and be very comfortable. Sleeves are too long, but I'm built like a fireplug with a 42" chest but short arms so I normally need to roll sleeves anyway unless I'm wearing $115 tailored
Got this after getting the Indie Hoody. Thought it would be good when I did not need the hood. The hoody has a trimmer cut but longer sleeves and longer length. I had to get an XL in the hoody to not be skin tight, but the zip T, in Large, is cut like most other tops I have gotten from Ibex, not skin tight. I wish the sleeves were longer and had thumb holes, and that the length were a bit longer i
I use this item mainly for work, or just hanging out. My only real complaint is that it is very short in the body. Admittedly, I am 6ft 4" tall, but the bottom hemline is almost above my belt! Maybe I should have ordered XL, but I like the 'trim' fit in the chest and arms. Only other downside is some loose threads at the sleeve cuff, but other than that, excellent item.
I've used this shirt several times already as a fall long sleeve layer for running and working out outdoors. Definitely happy with the way it dries quickly but still insulates well. Washes and dries easily and the softness of the wool is amazing. Definitely would buy again (only downside is that they're not cheap).
Basically a great shirt with a soft feel and attractive look. It fails, however, as a base layer. The fit is loose compared to both woolies and zepher items which doesn't make sense as it's right in the middle of those two weight-wise. The sleeves are also shorter than the other lines. I can live with shorter sleeves on a base layer but when it fits more loose it makes a better mid layer and then
