How Do I Determine My Size?

We recommend a general body measurement guide to determine your size in Ibex clothing. This sizing chart is not garment specific, but in fact a body measurement chart. Here are some helpful hints when measuring:

Bust/Chest: relax arms at sides, keeping the tape parallel to the floor, measure the fullest part of your bust/chest
Waist: keeping the measuring tape comfortably loose, measure around your natural waistline
Hips: standing with heels together, keep the tape straight and parallel to the floor, measure around the fullest part of hips
Sleeve Length: a 3-point measurement, standing with arms relaxed and slightly bent at sides, measure from the base of the neck to the shoulder and then from the shoulder to the wrist bone, add together measurements
Form-fit: garment designed to fit snug to the body throughout
Semi-fit: garment will be contoured to the body
Regular-fit: garment will not be slim, but also not oversized
Relaxed-fit: garment drapes loosely on body

I own an Ibex bra and love it. I've had it for years and decided it's time to get another!

I purchased two of these bras from my local outdoor store several years ago and I am still wearing them even though they are stretched and worn out. They are very comfortable and lightweight, perfect under loose tanks. They are a comfortable fit for those ladies like myself that are lacking in the boob department. You know when you start to sweat in a sports tee or bra your clothes just stink right away, well not this bra. The wool material is fantastic for not trapping the odor. Satisfied yes!

Wanted a bra for back packing that I could wear over a few days without getting stinky
Helen H on Aug 12, 2016
I have several of these- the fit is excellent, very comfortable and perfect for hiking, biking, camping, and any occasion- they don't "lift and separate", but sometimes you want comfort and wool for all day outdoor use- wool underwear seems off-putting for some people, but that means they have never tried it! You don't have that chilled feeling after being sweaty, cool in hot weather, no stink really is true-
Kristi M on Aug 9, 2016
This is my go-to bra for climbing, hiking and mountain biking. They don't bind or smoosh. They do lose their stretch with a lot of sweat and washing, but what doesn't?!
Janet W on Aug 2, 2016
Looks like the perfect sports bra
Tracy S on Jul 27, 2016
I have 7-8 Ibex bras and I wear them all the time. Some are getting a bit worse for the wear, so I'm starting to get replacements.
Needer of Struc on Jul 26, 2016
I own about a half dozen in medium and decided to try large. I am 34B and the medium is a tad snug. We'll see how the large fits.
Laurie M on Jul 25, 2016
I'm looking for a comfortable bra and have struggled to find one. I'm really hoping this is the one!
Beth N on Jul 24, 2016
My favorite bra! Warm in the winter, cool in the summer and dries faster than any other bra I've had. I love wool!
Carol H on Jul 23, 2016
I have never liked bras....but this one is very comfortable. Wearing it on a hot day is not a problem. Better than other, non-breathable fabrics.
Kathryn C on Jul 13, 2016
seemed like it would be good traveling and warm weather. straps would stay up.
Lyla O on Jul 12, 2016
I love the sports bra and would like an everyday bra.

I just bought another bra of yours and it was so soft I wanted one in this style to replace my current clammy one.
Randa W on Jun 18, 2016
Replacing a bra that is worn out. Like the fit, but wish it was a little thicker for better coverage under thin layers. I cut out a couple of circles from other fabric and add those to the cups of this bra when I'm wearing light weight clothing.
Guest S on Jun 17, 2016
the other style wasn't available

This is my favorite bra and my current black one is finally getting tired (stretched out). I do wish you would offer some other deep gem colors (I have a maroon one I really like but I won't buy pastels).
Mariah B on May 4, 2016
This is my favorite bra. It's the only one I wear. Besides the no longer available cami's that used to have a shelf bra included. Perfectly comfortable, breathable, and they perform.
Bicycle Tour Gi on Apr 18, 2016
I only wear this bra - love it! they stretch out after many many washes but I love them so I will always buy them as long as they are available!

great bralette-this is my third- light, supportive for everyday and strolling activities. takes a fair amount of abuse too, re-washing and wearing! i wear a size smaller for extra support..
Johanna G on Mar 29, 2016
I like that it's light weight and non-binding...and it offers a bit of a separation.
Holly D on Mar 22, 2016
I have the light bra and the sports bra from Ibex, and this looks like a great midsize version. Both of the other bras are my most comfortable bras, though the light bra is the most comfortable (but offers less support.) I'm hoping this one will be in between them on support.
Gretchen S on Mar 20, 2016
For comfort. Have two others like this in different colors.
Sybilla K on Mar 20, 2016
I chose this bra because I was looking for a light wool option to wear hiking all of the time.

This is replacing the exact same bra that I purchased four years ago and wore nearly every day until the straps gave out. I'll be replacing the straps when I have time (as the fabric is still great), but in the meantime I need this.

Super comfortable. I'm a 36B. 5"7, 144# and ordered a medium- which fits perfectly. These are great for sweaty workouts and for every day. I now have 4 in different colors and prefer them to regular bras when I can get away with it (underwire are nice for shaping, but that is about it!!).
Amy L on Jan 26, 2016
because you can change the steps from racer back to traditional bra-strapping.

are they padded?
A shopper on Apr 28, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Our Balance Bralette does not have padded or removable cups.
I am a 32D if have a very small rib cage and it is hard to find bras that fit me bc my breasts are larger, will this fit me?
lorena b on Jul 17, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hi there, this may not be the best for a D cup, it's pretty form fitting and recommended for A and B cups in low/medium impact activities. Thanks.
what type of closure does the bra have?
A shopper on Apr 21, 2015
BEST ANSWER: There is no closure. You slip the bra over your head. This is actually not a struggle as it might have been with other products. Also, THERE ARE NO SEAMS. This is a luxuriously comfortable bra. Feels like it is part of you. You also can change the straps to go straight over your shoulders instead of crossing if you like.
I'm a 38A - do I get a large? Usually when I size up for the band to fit there's too much fabric in the underarm area.
Sue J on May 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The Balance line is very snug so I think you'd be fine getting a large. If it doesn't work out we can offer a prepaid return label.
Thanks!
does this bra dry quickly?
A shopper on Aug 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hello yes this bra does dry quickly.. Thanks
I am concerned about the metal strap adjustments at the back of the bra and whether they will dig into my back when wearing a backpack. I have another vendor's wool bra with a metal ring at the back that digs into my spine when I wear my backpack. Have you had any feedback from backpackers on this issue? Thanks!
Tara M on May 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi there, the straps themselves create sort of a cushion effect and I doubt you'd even notice the adjuster. You have 60 days to return/exchange so maybe wear it for a day or so and try it with your pack but I think you'll be just fine.
Thanks!
Can this bra be worn with a tshirt?
A shopper on Apr 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi there, yes, this can be worn with a tshirt - the straps are convertible.
This bra provides light support.
Thanks!
Will a medium fit a 36 A/B? Or should I order a Large?
A shopper on Apr 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hello yes a medium will fit a your size. Thanks.
Is the main body of the bra wool or is the spandex and nylon all throughout the whole of the fabric? or is it just in the trim details?
lorena b on Jul 17, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hello yes the main body of the bra is wool. It is 72 % wool 22% nylon & 6% spandex this is all combined together. Thanks

Super comfy
This is my first merino bra after many other Ibex products. I love this bra, comfortable and supportive enough for every day. I am a 36C in normal bra sizes and the medium fits well.

The best bra ever
I bought this while I was working a forestry job. I was sweating all day, every day and needed unrestricted movement in my upper body. This bra was so comfortable, i barely noticed i was wearing one except that everything was staying in place... I have small breasts, so I can't speak for other body types. however, I have very large shoulders and rib cage. Usually it's difficult to find something that fits well and looks good. I went back the next week and bought brief shorts!

Go up a size
I normally wear a small in ibex bras but have to exchange this for a medium. If you're a 34 a-b, save yourself some time and order a medium.

Worth the money
Was looking for something to wear at night while on call for EMS (wanted to be semi-dressed when jumping out of bed, we are volunteers). This Bralette is double layer, pull over your head style (no hooks to dig in), straps can be worn straight or cross over in back. I usually wear a 36A so cannot speak for anybody larger but it is very comfortable and does not make me sweaty like the sportsbras do. Also intend to wear this hiking.

Best bra, great for every day wear, love that the straps can be changed to either straight or crossed. Really comfortable.

So comfortable!
This bralette is uber comfortable. However, it is not for high impact activities, or if you want to define/lift. Also, there is no padding, so I wear this with a t-shirt and sweater. If you just wear a t-shirt, it would require padding.

My favorite casual bra
This is my third Ibex bralette. The first two lasted about three years worn daily in rotation before the elastic gave out. The wool fabric is still beautiful and I'll replace the elastic eventually. I wear them every day. It's not itchy, doesn't get damp (like cotton), doesn't get stinky (like synthetics) is supportive and comfortable. It's just perfect. I wish it came in more dark colors. I have oxblood and black. Would love to see it in navy, hunter, eggplant, chocolate, etc.

Great for exercising.
I am a 34B and the bralette works great for workouts. I actually wear the straps straight instead of crossed. I find it more comfortable that way. I am 5"4", 124 pounds and I use a medium.

This used to be my go-to bra D`:
I'm a bra-reluctant 36B. I've been wearing the same size for YEARS, and the M Balance Bralette fit me like a dream, with just the right bandwidth and just the right amount of compression. Ibex must have changed the factory they use for this item because the fit is way off of where it was a few years before when I bought my last set of BBs. The band was too tight on the M, so I bought one L to see how it worked out. There is not really enough compression there for my B cups, and I don't want to put the squeeze on my lats with the current M band. Is it poor quality control on sizing, or is Ibex really trying to squeeze the M down to 32 to 34 A/B? I dunno, but I guess it's time to find a different go-to-bra. Dammit.

I really like this bralette. Comfortable wool is breathable and stretchy enough to provide support. The only thing I'd change are the metal strap adjusters on the back.
