Wool Aire:

The wool insulation in the Ibex Wool Aire line is sneaky. Collectively, the Wool Aire collection bear the same shape as down jackets and vests but leave the puffiness behind for a slimmer, cleaner feel. Still in the coldest days of winter, Wool Aire insulation holds in heat longer, keeps insulating when wet and is a renewable resource, which adds its own kind of warmth. We love theses jackets for their modern design and creative use of our favorite natural fiber. You'll love them because they're dependable against the chill of winter's coldest days. Made in Canada from imported materials. Machine washable. Shell: 100% Recycled Nylon Lining: 88% Recycled Rip Stop Poly, 12% Regular Poly Double RipStop Fill: Swiss Insulated lightweight wool insulation

How Do I Determine My Size?

We recommend a general body measurement guide to determine your size in Ibex clothing. This sizing chart is not garment specific, but in fact a body measurement chart. Here are some helpful hints when measuring:

Bust/Chest: relax arms at sides, keeping the tape parallel to the floor, measure the fullest part of your bust/chest
Waist: keeping the measuring tape comfortably loose, measure around your natural waistline
Hips: standing with heels together, keep the tape straight and parallel to the floor, measure around the fullest part of hips
Sleeve Length: a 3-point measurement, standing with arms relaxed and slightly bent at sides, measure from the base of the neck to the shoulder and then from the shoulder to the wrist bone, add together measurements
Form-fit: garment designed to fit snug to the body throughout
Semi-fit: garment will be contoured to the body
Regular-fit: garment will not be slim, but also not oversized
Relaxed-fit: garment drapes loosely on body

Ibex Outdoor Clothing Store
This jacket is my favorite. I bought one on sale in Sioux Falls at the Great Outdoor Store. It met all my criteria - hood, lightweight, blue, machine washable and it has surpassed my expectations so much I wanted another one.

I bought this for my wife. She has been quite pleased. It is a great alternative to down fabric that often loses it's warmth after a few years.

It looked warm and relatively light. Climbing video helped made decision that would be good for outdoor sports.
Green Girl H on Feb 5, 2016
It's good looking, models show how it fits, wool lining sounds lovely. The video of the guide, her final words sealed it for me! She compared what she was wearing to what she used to wear to maintain the same degree of warmth. So true - I wear what she used to wear now she loves wearing this.

Wanted to get a light, insulated jacket that is neither synthetic or down. This jacket fits the bill perfectly.

My friend had one of these and lost it!! I have down sweaters and sythetic sweater for layering when I go back country skiing or whatever. I think that this jacket with wool insulation will beat the others hands down. I'm not thrilled with the colour choices though...why do the mens always have more and better colour choices????

I'm very interested in trying a down alternative as I'm not convinced that down is harvested humanely. This sounded like a great jacket for days that are not terribly cold here in the midwestern US.

I got one of these several years ago (when I was first accepted into the ProProgram) and LOVE it. It's very water resistant, light weight, comfortable, packable and is nice looking (I'm not going to lie... how gear looks does matter a little bit!). I love this color and was needing a new jacket for winter in the mountains which will be upon us before we know it. This is, hands down, my favorite "puffy coat" (and, as a gear-head, I've tried them all... all brands, all styles).

I often wait for a bus at all hours of the day in cold and drafty places. This jacket in invaluable for keeping me warm. The hood provides another layer of bundling up against the cold. It has greatly improved the comfort in my commuting life. I am grateful for my Wool Aire Hoody!

Hi, I need a new winter jacket. I am in the mid-Atlantic region, so it can get cold, and I'd love a jacket that still keeps me warm when it's in the twenties or below. Will this jacket work? What should I know about appropriate layering to make it work?

W's Wool Aire Matrix Jacket
W's Wool Aire Matrix Jacket
BEST ANSWER: I got the Matrix for my wife, who is perpetually cold (we live in VT). She says that for 20's and below she would layer up with a cami, shirt, sweater and the Wool Air. She was expecting it to be thicker than it is, but is very pleased with the warmth regardless. For light wind she says it's good, but for a real nasty blowing day she would likely top it with a good shell.
Is the wool aire hoody machine washable?
Wendy D on Apr 21, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes! I have washed it a few times in delicate cycle with extra rinse and powder detergent and hang dry. It came out like new. Just make sure you close all zippers beforehand. I always turn it inside out before washing.
Which is warmer, the loden or the wool aire?

Not My First Wool Aire
I am a bike tourist. I used to take a down sweater, but it was a problem if it rained. Finally, I found the Wool Aire Sweater! It was great! No more worry about getting it wet, and it is plenty warm enough. I like my Wool Aire Sweater so much, I bought the Wool Aire Hoody. Both are lightweight, but warm. They are somewhat water resistant, but you'll get wet in a downpour. That's okay because it's WOOL! They are comparable in price to the down sweaters, but have so much better functionality. I hope Ibex never stops making these!

Love this base layer jacket!
I ranch in central Montana and wear this jacket under a shell work jacket. Even in subzero temps, it has kept me warmer than any other base layer jacket. The hood is nice - doesn't block my peripheral view. Thanks, Ibex, for yet another great product! Baaaa!

Great jacket!
I usually wear size medium, but in this jacket the medium is too tight through the chest & underarm area. I exchanged for a size large, which fits loose, but will be good for layering. The bud green is a great color. The jacket is not super warm, but will be with layering & I think the wool will breathe well in high activity endevours.

Almost perfect
I love this jacket. It looks great, is light, yet warm. I love that it's not filled with polyester. The "black coffee" color looked black on my screen but I took a chance that it might actually be a very dark brown, and HOORAY, it is! The only downside is that the pocket zippers are really hard to operate with gloves on. The zipper pull is too small to get a grasp on.

Wool is the new down!
I got this jacket last fall and love it! It is light, flattering and not bulky, yet super warm! I wear it all the time in the winter: for skiing, walking the dog, to work, even getting dressed up. The zipper does seem fragile, but hasn't broken yet. I highly recommend this jacket!

Air Hoody for muscle women
I bought this hoody and had to return it because the sleeves were large widthwise so that there was plenty of room around the whole of my arm. This can fit athletic women with big arms but not for petite women.

Warmth without weight winner
Love this jacket from the moment I put it on. It's like wearing air and incredibly warm without the weight and bulk of most down jackets.
Loved it so much that I bought one for my husband. He's happy to have it.
Loved it even more to purchase a different color for me. You can never have too many great jackets like this.

Warm, comfortable, flattering
I've been wanting this jacket for a while, and jumped at it when it went on sale. Got it in time to use during a cold spell in the spring, and during a climbing/camping trip. Very comfortable, very warm, and with enough style to be usable in an urban setting. Although I love my Patagonia down sweaters, I was glad to have an option that would still be warm if I got caught in rain, which is aways a

Very nice jacket
I was looking for a good lightweight, non-puffy layering jacket. Not as warm as down for the weight, but not as puffy. I'm in between a small & medium size for Ibex clothing. I chose medium so I could put layers, including a down sweater, under this jacket. Hence it fits loosely, but not so much that it looks sloppy on its own. The sleeves seem significantly longer than other medium sized Ibex

Thumbs up
I live in New England and have found this jacket to be perfectly suitable in weather above about 20 or 25 degrees. I don't know how it would perform if used for aerobic activity but for casual wear it is equivalent to my lightweight down jacket with respect to warmth and wind resistance. Overall I think does the job given its light weight, and it's nicely tailored and stylish (I am a size 2 and bo
