How Do I Determine My Size?

We recommend a general body measurement guide to determine your size in Ibex clothing. This sizing chart is not garment specific, but in fact a body measurement chart. Here are some helpful hints when measuring:

Bust/Chest: relax arms at sides, keeping the tape parallel to the floor, measure the fullest part of your bust/chest
Waist: keeping the measuring tape comfortably loose, measure around your natural waistline
Hips: standing with heels together, keep the tape straight and parallel to the floor, measure around the fullest part of hips
Sleeve Length: a 3-point measurement, standing with arms relaxed and slightly bent at sides, measure from the base of the neck to the shoulder and then from the shoulder to the wrist bone, add together measurements
Form-fit: garment designed to fit snug to the body throughout
Semi-fit: garment will be contoured to the body
Regular-fit: garment will not be slim, but also not oversized
Relaxed-fit: garment drapes loosely on body

Was experimenting with revamping my whole undergarment line. A little too scratchy to make the final cut.

truly amazing underwear and the ones I reach for most. Stretchy, form fitting, breathable- I LOVE THESE! They are pricey but are a great value because they hold up so well.

I purchased several of these years ago in preparation for a trip -- I wanted to keep my packing to a minimum. Three briefs were all I took on a two week trip. Balance Briefs wash up easily and dry quickly, AND they're comfortable and breathable! No more cotton for me. The current brief has changed slightly though: the elastic around the legs is a tad more snug and the height is a tad shorter than my past briefs.

best briefs
I wear balance briefs everywhere. Yes, these are expensive, but once you switch, you'll never want to wear anything else. So much better than cotton or synthetics. I find that they run small---I wear a medium in Ibex Izzy pants, but a large in Balance Briefs.

My new favorite underwear
Many other reviewers have said it, and it's true. These briefs are comfortable, stay put, and feel amazing. I want to wear them every day.

I'd also like to second another reviewer and advise folks to buy larger than you might think. I'm 5'7", 130 lbs, and usually wear a six 6. It took few tries, but finally discovered the large is the best fit for me. The medium was too tight around the thighs. Now that I have the right size, I love them, and plan to buy more!

You'll love these!!!
I've tried several different types of wool underwear, but the Ibex Balance Brief is the best:

Smartwool NTS bikini has a thin exposed elastic on the edges. Better than the some, but the exposed elastic is not in keeping with the wool properties next to your skin.

Icebreaker Nature Ultralite Siren Bikini Underwear Skimpier bikini but not enough stretch/ doesn't hug your body like it should.

My new favorite underwear
These are my new favorite underwear. They are perfectly comfortable for everyday, and for intense physical activities they don't feel soggy or clammy, nor do they get smelly. The medium fits my 38" hips just right, with a mid-hip rise not too low but low enough for all my jeans. The wool relaxes a bit after wearing them for a while, which adds to the comfort and smooth fit.

great product
I ordered on of each of brief and shorts. I found the shorts worked best for me. The briefs are nicely done but not my personal preference. They seemed small but I think it was just the style.

Comfortable briefs that stay put
These underwear are so comfortable and do not ride up. They can be washed out and dry overnight for traveling or camping. Best to size up for perfect fit. I am slowly adding to my collection so I can get rid of my other briefs.

Order larger than you think
Perfect underwear. My only comment is that I find the size chart to be WAY off as applied to this item. I am 5'8" tall. I have a 28" waist & 36" hips. I own Ibex tights in small and an Ibex wool pant (looks like jeans made of wool), also in small, and both fit great. After too many Balance Brief orders/exchanges, I find large to be my size. Maybe the medium would have worked but tightish underpant

extreme quality
This is the best wool underwear on the market. It is so well made and very soft. The only downside is that it isn't a thong! PLEASE Ibex, make a thong! I prefer thongs because they're more compact, lighter (for travel or backpacking), they don't make lines under pants, and they're less material to wash and dry when traveling or camping. I could pack numerous thongs for the weight/space of one pair

A big fan!
I'm a big fan of merino and have been looking for a replacement for a brand who's fit is not up to par for me. A friend recommended Ibex and I'm thrilled with both fit and function. They don't ride, they are easy to wash and super breathable when I am running, hiking, etc. They are awesome!

The best undies
These have taken over my underwear drawer. As old ones wear out (other kinds), I replace them with Ibex briefs. They fit perfectly, do not show panty lines, breathe beautifully, and last a long time. In fact, I still have the first pair I ordered about three years ago. They wash well too. More colors, please.
