Finely tuned 18.5 micron New Zealand Merino at 195g/m2. We designed this fabric from the need of a weight in-between our Woolies at 150g/m2 and our Zepher at 230g/m2. The weight of the fabric resembles that of a high quality t-shirt. It works well worn next to skin as a baselayer or on it\u0027s own.

How Do I Determine My Size?

We recommend a general body measurement guide to determine your size in Ibex clothing. This sizing chart is not garment specific, but in fact a body measurement chart. Here are some helpful hints when measuring:

Bust/Chest: relax arms at sides, keeping the tape parallel to the floor, measure the fullest part of your bust/chest
Waist: keeping the measuring tape comfortably loose, measure around your natural waistline
Hips: standing with heels together, keep the tape straight and parallel to the floor, measure around the fullest part of hips
Sleeve Length: a 3-point measurement, standing with arms relaxed and slightly bent at sides, measure from the base of the neck to the shoulder and then from the shoulder to the wrist bone, add together measurements
Form-fit: garment designed to fit snug to the body throughout
Semi-fit: garment will be contoured to the body
Regular-fit: garment will not be slim, but also not oversized
Relaxed-fit: garment drapes loosely on body

This seems like it will be a perfect addition to my clothing system. I do a lot of cycling, (mtb and road commuting) skiing, and hiking/backpacking, so this hooded piece should fit the bill for colder jaunts doing all of the above! Also, hoods rock and thumb holes rock even more!

Needed lightweight (150) baselayer and this was a better cut (raglan sleeves way better comfort esp. when carrying loads), fit and colour choice compared with smartwool and icebreaker.

I own a Hooded Indie that gets used every backpacking and canoeing trip. It has held up well and is a good piece of versatile clothing. Great for sleeping in a hammock when you want your neck and head covered.

Ordering my second of these. I love the weight of this wool, the long sleeves and the added versatility of the hood. Great lightweight layer to add a little warmth in the shoulder seasons or cool summer nights.

These are great! I am always wearing them in the winter and sometimes on cool days in 3 season conditions.
I also like the bright natural colors!

Ibex has great quality of Merino wool clothes. My icebreaker purchases, I returned as they stank of chemicals and I am not wearing that close to by body all day. Ibex I know where the wool is grown and assembled. Icebreaker is China.

Best backcountry ski top around. Wear it alone or with a light shell on the up, and pull on a puff for the down. Hood keeps ears warm and fits inside a helmet. Good for summer alpine climbing, too.

I was looking for a versatile layer for travel and hiking. After over a year of use, I really like it. It's usefulness far surpasses its weight and size. The only negative is the thumb holes. They look a bit weird if you're not using them, but they have come in handy a few times to keep my hands warmer. This is the layer that always goes with me, and when combined with a light waterproof shell, you are covered over a huge weather and temp range in a tiny package.

Is this hood good under a helmet?
Evan K on Apr 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This hood is awesome under a helmet. It breathes perfectly and keeps the chill off the neck area. I've used it when it's 20 degrees or colder and have been very comfortable and happy. I own 4 of these gems and it is my only base layer for downhill skiing in Anchorage, Alaska.
Does it provide UV Sun Protection?
A shopper on Apr 20, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I purchased my Md Hooded Indie this winter and love it as a base layer and mid layer. It kept me warm and cozy on a winter hiking weekend in the White Mountains. Durning a recent trip to Utah, it did provide some sun protection while hiking, no sun burn on my arms or trunk after a 6 hr hike at higher elevations.
How does this fabric hold up for rock climbing?
Kelly P Staff on Sep 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I haven't used this garment for rock climbing - I mostly use it for skiing (alpine and nordic). The fabric is thin, but warm and strong and I love the breath-ability. Don't ever put these in the dryer - spot clean, machine wash cold and dry flat. They will last and last.

Excellent layer
I love hoodies and to have a lightweight wool layer with a hoodie is a dream come true. I spend everyday outdoors and I have used this daily from the day I received it. Everything from Mountain biking to hiking. The best use will be backcountry skiing to the huts and teaching avalanche classes this winter.

The fit is looser which is perfect. I could wear another layer underneath if I wanted o

Perfect Piece
I got the previous year's hooded indie in brown and I really love it. The thumbholes function perfectly and show no signs of wearing out. I wear this constantly for two weeks or so and I wash it. I actually machine wash this baby warm and tumble dry HOT and it has not shrank a bit, so take a deep breath and toss it in the dryer.

I'm 6'1" 165lbs (read lanky/longish torso and arms) and the Large fi

Comfy, warm, be a sheep for a day!
No stink (as of yet), compared to my 6 year old synthetic underwear. Much warmer, and has all the features requisite for a layer your life could depend on in an alpine assault: thumb loops, hood, 1/4 length front zipper for ventilation, and it's low enough to tuck into long-johns. Also, the wool is very soft.

A solid piece that is helping me grin through the Montana winter.

Repeat customer
I wore my last one out and I think it's the ultimate compliment when you wear something out and buy another of the same thing. As a light baselayer it really can't get much better. I like the long torso length (always stays tucked in), sleeve length in combination with the thumb loops means that a good chunk of your hand is covered even when you're pulling gloves on, and the hood provides coverage

Stylish, comfortable hooded indie
I bought this on sale for our 13 yr old son , hoping I can wear it after he grows. It is stylish and comfortable. For warmth, he layers over a long sleeved t-shirt. I could wear this year round. We love the darker green color too with contrasting grey trim.

perfect layering
really great layering piece that works better than I thought it would "on it's own". the cut and style are pretty cool and the tight hood with thumb-loops add to the technical appeal. great piece that I thought i would really like and ended up loving.

Great Cycling Gear
The hood works well on colder mornings under my bike helmet -- without being too tight, since the material is both thin enough and warm -- and then as the weather warms up, easy to just flip the hood off. Plus the zipper makes for greater temperature variation as I sweat and cool down.
