The wool insulation in the Ibex Wool Aire line is sneaky. Collectively, the Wool Aire collection bear the same shape as down jackets and vests but leave the puffiness behind for a slimmer, cleaner feel. Still in the coldest days of winter, Wool Aire insulation holds in heat longer, keeps insulating when wet and is a renewable resource, which adds its own kind of warmth. We love theses jackets for their modern design and creative use of our favorite natural fiber. You'll love them because they're dependable against the chill of winter's coldest days. Made in Canada from imported materials. Machine washable. BEST ANSWER: Hanging on the rack, down will likely be your choice if you are just looking for warmth per unit weight. Down is very light weight and has a lot of loft, giving you a puffy look and keep you warm in dry conditions. However, I dislike the loft down provides especially when I am using a backpack nor do I only wear my outerwear in only dry conditions. I wear my outerwear in all conditions while traveling, backpacking, camping, tailgating, and working outside. I need my outerwear to perform right out of my pack in whatever environment I put it in, cool and dry conditions all the way down to wet and windy. Wool's insulation power when wet holds up much better than down's insulation power when wet. I much rather pick up my M's Wool Aire than any of my other vests that are down insulated.

Love it
I love this jacket but wish the size of it was consistent with other Ibex jackets and tops. At 6 feet, 188lbs I wear a large in all other ibex shirts and jackets. With a large in this jacket the sleeves were to short so I had to exchange it for an XL that is to Big. The zipper also take two hands to unzip which is a little bit of a pain. Still, this is an excellent jacket and you'll be hooked once

great coat. bad zipper
a poor quality zipper mars an otherwise stellar coat. I will soon be warranteeing my second coat in two years due to the zipper. the zipper also spelled the demise of my first one. great customer service department. I also have a go lite coat of similar weight with an absolutely bombproof zipper that's still going strong after 6 years. go lite! they who define themselves by their light products bu

Surprisingly effective
My wife got me this jacket for Christmas. I'd asked for something light and warm thinking down or one of the synthetics.

I have to admit, I wasn't all that impressed when I opened it. A thin, non-puffy jacket and where was the wool? So, I left the tags on and took the dog for a walk that afternoon. I was comfortable, but it wasn't all that cold out being in the upper 30's. I did like the fac

Light weight and comfortable
This sweater jacket provides a comfortable alternative to a light shell or full winter jacket during the unpredictable temperature swings of the fall and spring in the Rocky Mountains. True to form, Ibex delivers a well designed and nicely crafted jacket that is comfortable and stylish.

Functional, stylish, and great fitting
This is a very versatile jacket that can be used for everyday running around, outdoor activities, and traveling. It's light and compact so is especially useful for travel. It's not the warmest in its class but that makes it better suited for layering which is how I tend to dress.

The more athletic fit is great for me. For reference, I'm 6' 170 lbs, 33" waist, 15.5 34/35 dress shirt. I can easily

Lightweight Warmth
Worm as a mid layer on cold alpine ski days or as an outer layer on the drive north. Packs small and cleans easily.

This thing is FANTASTIC!
Yup, it is a pricey piece of gear, but I really feel the value in this product warrants it.
I just got it and the nomad hoodie for christmas and besides wearing it everywhere, I use it as an insulating layer in my layering system of a wool T, a light long sleeve (instead if cold enough, nomad hoodie, the wool aire sweater and if necessary, a waterproof shell. I've yet to find the bottom to this sy

Great Jacket
Love this jacket. I am 6'2 and 190 lb and the large fits perfectly. Seems to be very wind resistant and warm enough for just a woolie underneath in 20 degree weather with some wind. Can't say enough good things about it.

Would definitely recommend this. Not only works under a shell or on it's own but fits under a puffy for one more layer of warmth when it gets really cold.

Impressive in its insulating ability given its light weight. Keeps in the warmth even in damp conditions.
