How Do I Determine My Size?

We recommend a general body measurement guide to determine your size in Ibex clothing. This sizing chart is not garment specific, but in fact a body measurement chart. Here are some helpful hints when measuring:

Bust/Chest: relax arms at sides, keeping the tape parallel to the floor, measure the fullest part of your bust/chest
Waist: keeping the measuring tape comfortably loose, measure around your natural waistline
Hips: standing with heels together, keep the tape straight and parallel to the floor, measure around the fullest part of hips
Sleeve Length: a 3-point measurement, standing with arms relaxed and slightly bent at sides, measure from the base of the neck to the shoulder and then from the shoulder to the wrist bone, add together measurements
Form-fit: garment designed to fit snug to the body throughout
Semi-fit: garment will be contoured to the body
Regular-fit: garment will not be slim, but also not oversized
Relaxed-fit: garment drapes loosely on body

Still need help determining your size? Call 800.773.9647 or email us at info@ibex.com for specific garment measurements.

My husband is prone to becoming overheated in down-filled jackets, but he really likes this wool aire sweater. This jacket works well for cool weather hikes, for running errands around town. and when business-casual attire is appropriate.

This is my husband's favorite winter jacket. In Colorado it's the perfect 3 season garment.
Carol M on May 1, 2016
see my comment on the women's wool aire sweater. I am hoping one version fits. I have broad shoulders and long arms, and no weight anywhere, so when I go for the womans large the garments tend to be way big in the chest and gut, but are too tight across the shoulders. I'm hoping the men's small might work, unless it is oversized, then i'll have the same problem.

I have a Wool Aire hoody jacket and love it! Keeps me warm in the Portland dampness and is super lightweight. The Wool Aire sweater seems like a great base layer under my waterproof shell, or as just a stand alone "sweater" for running around town or hikes in the gorge. Plus, I have found that ibex products are just the best out there, when it comes to wool. I have tried the other major brands and they just don't compare.
MARK M on Feb 21, 2016
I wanted a winter jacket I could move around in easily. It's been one of the better IBEX pieces I've purchased. A few holes in it now. Punctures from tree branches and thistles.

Light weight and high warmth versitiliy.

Wanted a warm insulating layer and love the idea of wool. Hopefully this will be a mainstay when I winter camp.

Husband was admiring a similar down-filled "sweater" worn by a friend, but it was black which isn't the best for cycling at night.

I like the look of the jacket, my husband spends a lot of time outdoors and very cold climates ( Wyoming, Nebraska) We are fans of wool! Reviews sold me.

Looking for a warm, light weight jacket for outdoor fun in the winter. The Wool Aire Sweater is light, warm and wind resistant - just what I am looking for.
Steve Y on Dec 1, 2015
Best jacket I've ever purchased, its incredibly warm and comfortable. Great to wear on its own in the fall or underneath a winter coat for an extra layer of insulation.

Perfect in between season jacket. Goose down is great for January and February in Canada but too warm November & December.
Scott on Nov 27, 2015
I love the feel of the lightweight wool layer alone or under shell.
Ordering an XL as I tried a L but armpits were very tight and became uncomfortable as the seam finish grabs and bunches the base layers if regular shirts (vs form fitting base layers). Perhaps look at making under arms more spacious with flat seams to alleviate that issue. Otherwise love this jacket and I hope the XL works for me.
Guest S on Nov 27, 2015
Because it's insulated with wool.
BRUCE A on Nov 27, 2015
Feathers are poking through fabric of old Marmot down jacket. Thinking that wool may be better solution.
Jay M on Nov 26, 2015
I think IBEX products are exceptional - they're well designed, well made and fit just right. i've been looking for a lightweight jacket (i live in LA) and I'm going to try this one because I trust IBEX to come through with a rockin' good lookin' jacket.
Robert B on Nov 25, 2015
have a light down vest. I want to try a vest with wool insulation. I wear a lot of wool--Ibex, Filson, and Pendleton. Nothing beats it for insulation because it doesn't give up when it gets wet. I wanted a sweater to provide some warmth in the arms when needed.

I'm looking for an insulating layer that can stand-alone and work under a shell. Additionally, I like the environmental benefits of wool over fleece.

I have the hoodie version of this, and wanted the jacket without the hood for casual travel. This is one of my favorite pieces of kit, warm, light and versitlile. I can dress up a bit or be just the ticket on the mountain trail. Top notch.

Just bought my 3rd color, most comfortable jacket I've ever owned. Warm when it's cold, comfortable when not too cold, light, looks good, nice.

BEST ANSWER: Hi. It's not ringstop & honestly I didn't think it would last. BuT it looks brand new still. I started wearing it again two weeks ago as the weather has changed to winter in VT. The jacket is very warm & so light & thin. Like not wearing a jacket. I used it for cross country skiing last yr & I like skiing through the forest & it didn't tear. It also layers under another jacket really well when it's gets colder.
How does Wool Aire compare to Down for warmth?

BEST ANSWER: Hanging on the rack, down will likely be your choice if you are just looking for warmth per unit weight. Down is very light weight and has a lot of loft, giving you a puffy look and keep you warm in dry conditions. However, I dislike the loft down provides especially when I am using a backpack nor do I only wear my outerwear in only dry conditions. I wear my outerwear in all conditions while traveling, backpacking, camping, tailgating, and working outside. I need my outerwear to perform right out of my pack in whatever environment I put it in, cool and dry conditions all the way down to wet and windy. Wool's insulation power when wet holds up much better than down's insulation power when wet. I much rather pick up my M's Wool Aire than any of my other vests that are down insulated.
Is this in any way water proof or water resistant?
Gustavo G on Nov 6, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hi Gustavo, Since we don't get a lot of rain here in Calgary I just ran some water from the tap over mine to check. (I have the women's version from last year). The water beaded and ran off, leaving the surface fabric slightly damp afterward.
What color is firebrick? Reddish?
Joe K on Oct 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Agree with Natasha. I have this in firebrick and in green - great jackets. 18 degrees today and I worth this with shak and merino base layer in wind with no problem
How do I wash my wool air vest ?
John S on Feb 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Cold water in washing machine, line dry. I just did this over the weekend and it washed nicely.
Does the size of this run on the large side? I bought the women's version for myself, and I had to return it for a size smaller than I usually wear.
Leigh P on Apr 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The Wool Aire is listed as a semi-fit which is contoured to the body but has room for layering underneath. I guess it'd be more of a personal preference on either a slim fit, or a roomier fit.
I can give you actual dimensions if you'd like.
Hello, just wondering if the Blood Orange Wool Aire Sweater is going to be available in size med at a later date? Thanks
Bob B on Aug 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hi there, if we got a returned medium, we could potentially re-stock it, but we change over to the Fall/Winter season this week and will offer these new colors: Fire Brick, Billiard, and Black. The Fire Brick is a rusty red and it has the blood orange color on the inside.

Love it
I love this jacket but wish the size of it was consistent with other Ibex jackets and tops. At 6 feet, 188lbs I wear a large in all other ibex shirts and jackets. With a large in this jacket the sleeves were to short so I had to exchange it for an XL that is to Big. The zipper also take two hands to unzip which is a little bit of a pain. Still, this is an excellent jacket and you'll be hooked once

Great Jacket
Love this jacket. I am 6'2 and 190 lb and the large fits perfectly. Seems to be very wind resistant and warm enough for just a woolie underneath in 20 degree weather with some wind. Can't say enough good things about it.
January 25, 2014
It's about time
Wool is inherently not wind proof, except for this jacket. You finally got around to encasing some fine wool inside of rain resistant, wind resistant material. Pound for pound this is the warmest jacket I own, including down which is worthless when wet. Congratulations, more, more,

Wool over down any day
Don't mean to gush but, what's not to like? Fit is awesome, pockets are perfect, cuffs aren't too tight but don't let in wind or snow. It packs tights and washes easily. Dried overnight in our wood heated living room. Seriously, I'm trying to find a con but I can't. Most of my friends have the Pataguchi version. With the workouts we give them they smell like wet geese. I'm thinking a hoodie versio

I like this jacket
I use this jacket for standby warmth. It is in my go-bag. I have no problems with it except for the collar. I wish it had some felt or something so it didn't stick to my neck. I have to find a collared shirt to wear beneath it. I have the black color so the oils don't show so quickly, but the thin nylon shell without the neck lining is a sweat and oil sponge.

Another Great Ibex Product
For a guy who is a walking Ibex billboard, this has become an instant favorite!
I wear it like a sweater in the house. Fly fishing over a Woolie and Shaq. Layered under my winter jacket while walking the dog on a cold winter day.
My only complaint is that the zipper is a bit flimsy and sometimes difficult to unzip. Also some of stitching seems to be fraying after only several months of heavy us
November 28, 2012
Would definitely recommend this. Not only works under a shell or on it's own but fits under a puffy for one more layer of warmth when it gets really cold.

So far I'm impressed with the warmth this jacket provides despite it being very light weight. I love the color (green) and fit. I'm 5'9" ~155 and the medium fits great.

Warm and durable .
This was my first Ibex purchase. Before it has always been Arcteryx or Patagonia, but this will not be my last. I tried the North Face Thermo Ball, and it fell apart almost immediately. I have worn the Ibex both as a layering piece and as an outer piece, and I could not be happier. After a season of almost constant wear it still looks new.
